I am not typically one for outwardly promoting, well, anything. I am much more of a “behind the scenes” type supporter – happy to do work, support financially if I can, but reluctant to directly tout causes. Honestly, it just makes me uncomfortable. I’m not one hundred percent sure why. I guess I worry about offending someone or taking advantage of a circumstance. The thought of appearing usurious pains me. This has been to my detriment in the past because it can also mean missed opportunities for others and myself. But, this particular donation drive is near and dear to my heart and pushed me out of my “overly worried” box. For the first time, I really wanted to share.
First, Danielle Aziz, the Chloe+Isabel retailer sponsoring this donation drive, is my beautiful and inspiring stepdaughter. She is an entrepreneurial spirit and always has been; she is a wife, mom and professional who is not afraid to take a chance for her goals. She has been an inspiration to me in many ways. So, when she came up with the idea of benefiting Dress for Success Oregon while promoting the new Chloe+Isabel line, I was so proud to be her stepmom. Business and generosity together in the support of women - she is setting an excellent example.
Second, Dress for Success (and specifically the Dress for Success Oregon (DFSO) branch) is a personal passion. Their mission is of the utmost importance in my mind. Don’t be fooled by the name, DFSO is so much more than a clothing provider. Their staff (the most dedicated group of people I have ever had the honor to work with) and volunteers (equally dedicated and inspiring) are mentors, supporters, career advisers, job retention experts, and overall “we’ll do whatever we can to help” people. Their goal: “empower women to achieve economic independence.” How can you not support that?
So, I thank you for understanding my need to share this donation drive. And, here's a link if you are so inclined :-): www.chloeandisabelpdx.com/33a344
