Life Should #7

Never Expect Others to Take Care of You

But be thankful and grateful when they do

Once again, pretty self-explanatory.  As I am writing these notes it occurs to me, they all seem to revolve around discouraging entitlement.  This Life Should is no different.  You are not entitled to someone taking care of you.  So don’t expect it.  There is nothing more irritating to me then when some expects another person to solve their problems, whatever they may be.  It perpetuates a sense of carelessness with one’s decisions.  Like not taking care of a car because someone else will figure it out; not paying a bill because you know someone won’t let you fail; having kids without regard to their own future because you know someone will step-in to help.

When you are lucky enough to have people in your life that will step-in during those times you need real help (by the way, we all need help at different points in our lives), be grateful.  Remember, those people have no actual obligation to make your life easier, they are choosing to.  Now that deserves the utmost respect.

[Thought to be considered with a Peanut Butter cookie because it’s impossible to be ungrateful while eating one.]
