Life Should #16
Keep a clean home
Whether you live in a big house, a tiny apartment, or are couch surfing, it matters
Keeping a clean home is not just for appearances. It has a multitude of benefits. It creates a feeling of accomplishment when you are done. It creates focus when you are feeling ambiguous. It creates order out of disorder which then leads to order in other parts of our lives. And, it’s just nice to be in a clean home. Although you may be tired and ridiculously busy, it still shows a sense of pride in oneself and family. It sets examples for others. It’s healthier.
By they way, I don’t mean living in a museum of discomfort. Nor do I mean that life doesn’t take over now and then and it just can’t get done. That’s just a reality and anyone who says different isn’t doing the cleaning themself. Nor does it mean it is one person’s responsibility. I strongly believe that each member of the family should chip in with the household chores. I believe this for all the benefits I list above. I believe this because I do not think you can truly have pride in something when you are not actively contributing to it. Having pride in one’s self, home and family requires active work.
[Thought to be considered with a piece of Lemon Bundt Cake and a cup of tea - it just seems clean and refreshing.]
